Common Use

Cefpodoxime is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic from the cephalosporin group, with a bactericidal effect. It is effective against many gram-positive, aerobic, and anaerobic microorganisms while being resistant to beta-lactamase enzymes.

Susceptible bacteria include those causing:

• Tonsillitis
• Pharyngitis
• Acute sinusitis
• Acute bronchitis
• Pneumonia
• Exacerbation of chronic pneumonia (especially in alcohol abusers, smokers, and adults over 65)

However, Cefpodoxime is not effective against:

• Streptococcus of D group
• Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus
• Corynebacterium of J and K group
• Pseudomonas aeruginosa
• Listeria monocytogenes
• Acinetobacter baumanii
• Clostridium difficile
• Bacteroides

It is sometimes used alongside other antibiotics or as an injectable to prevent infections before, during, and after surgery.

Dosage and Directions

Take Cefpodoxime with food and a full glass of water. For the liquid suspension form, shake well before us

Important guidelines:

• Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment.
• Continue taking the medication even if symptoms improve to ensure complete treatment.

Precautions

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhea

Seek immediate medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Storage

• Keep away from light, moisture, children, and pets.
