Ilosone is a bacteriostatic antibiotic, binds reversibly to the 50-S ribosomal subunit that disrupts the formation of peptide bonds between the molecules of amino acids and blocks the synthesis of proteins of microorganisms (does not affect the synthesis of nucleic acids). When used in high doses of Ilosone, depending on the type of agent may be bactericidal action. Are sensitive to micro-organisms, whose growth is delayed when the concentration of antibiotic is less than 0.5 mg / l, moderately sensitive - 1-6 mg / L, stable - 8.6 mg / liter. Spectrum of activity of Ilosone antibiotic includes gram-positive microorganisms. Ilosone accelerates the evacuation of gastric contents due to the increase of the amplitude reduction and improvement of antral pyloric-duodenal coordination.
Erythromycin prescribed for: Erythromycin is used to treat streptococcal infections of the throat ("strep throat") and skin. It is used for infections of the lung (pneumonia) caused by streptococcal pneumoniae, mycoplasma pneumoniae, and legionella pneumophila (legionnaires disease). Erythromycin is used to treat acute pelvic inflammatory disease, diphtheria, erythrasma, whooping cough, listeriosis, and intestinal amebiasis. It is used for the treatment of staphylococcal infections of the skin and as an alternative antibiotic for the treatment of syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. Erythromycin is used in patients who are allergic to penicillin for the prevention of recurrent rheumatic fever and infections of the hearts' valves (endocarditis) in patients with valvular abnormalities of the heart before they undergo dental treatments. The non-FDA approved uses for erythromycin include acne, Lyme disease, and tetanus.
